Earn-a-Bike

In our signature program, kids learn to repair bicycles as a community service, and then fix and earn their own in exchange for their work. Upon completion of the program, students receive a lock and a helmet, and are deeply invested in their bicycle.

Donations

After a bicycle is fixed up by an Earn-A-Bike student or a volunteer, it may be repatriated to the community in a number of different ways. FareStart, a restaurant jobs-training program that helps homeless adults turn their lives around, receives BikeWorks bikes for each graduate. Additionally, we donate extensively to Treehouse, a resource center for foster families.

Community Bike Shop

Out of the thousands of junkers we fix up each year, the nicest are professionally repaired by our shop staff. We sell hundreds of used adult and kids bikes every year, and proceeds help fund our work.Consider supporting us by coming to us to look for your next ride!

Kids Bike Swap

In order to facilitate the flow of bicycles to our local community, each year BikeWorks organizes a community bike swap for the kids. Families come to this annual spring event and trade in kids bikes for bigger ones that fit. 

 

Bicycle Passports

Our Bicycle Passports get kids bicycling for transportation. Youth log the miles they bike around town (outside of Bike Works) and win incentive prizes for every five miles, with extra points for bringing along a relative or friend. Passports get kids out of the mini-van and onto their bikes to get around town.
